The Background
DentoFix Dental Clinic was operating from Kothrud in Pune, with a verified Google Business Profile that had built up genuine patient reviews over time. Dr. Meenakshi decided to shift the practice to Ghatkopar East in Mumbai — a full inter-city relocation, not a move down the road.
She did what most owners would do. She opened the profile, changed the address to the new Mumbai one, and updated the business name at the same time. Both fields were editable, so there was no obvious reason to think either edit was a problem.
Within a short time the profile was suspended. The listing disappeared from Google Search and Google Maps entirely — no calls, no direction requests, no visibility for a practice that was in the middle of relocating and needed new patients most.
Why Google Suspended the Profile
Nothing Dr. Meenakshi did was dishonest. The problem was that the edit pattern looked, to Google’s automated systems, exactly like the pattern used by spam listings.
- Two high-risk fields changed at once. Business name and address are the two fields Google guards most closely. Editing either alone triggers a review. Editing both in one go is treated as a much stronger signal.
- The address moved across cities. A relocation from Pune to Mumbai is not a minor correction. Google cannot verify from a dashboard edit whether a genuine practice moved, or whether an established listing with good reviews is being hijacked and repointed at a different market.
- Every trust signal pointed to the old location. The website, directory listings, reviews and the profile’s own history all still said Pune. The new Mumbai address had no supporting evidence anywhere on the web.
Put together, one edit turned a legitimate clinic into something that pattern-matched a hijacked listing. The suspension followed automatically.

How We Recovered and Relocated the Profile
Step 1 — Restore the profile to its last known good state
We did not appeal for the Mumbai address. We reverted the profile to the original Pune details — the exact business name and the Kothrud address that Google had already verified and trusted — and filed a single documented appeal on that basis.
This matters more than anything else in the case. Google reinstates what it can verify. Asking it to approve an unverifiable new location while the listing is under suspension almost always fails.
Step 2 — Get the profile live and let it settle
Once the profile was reinstated in Pune, we did not touch the address. A freshly recovered listing is closely monitored, and an immediate edit is the quickest route back into suspension. We used this period to make sure the profile itself was clean: correct primary category, accurate hours, complete services, and no policy issues left anywhere in the listing.
Step 3 — Prepare the Mumbai location before touching Google
Before changing anything on the profile, we built evidence that the Ghatkopar East clinic genuinely existed. That means signage in place at the new premises, the address written in one consistent format, and that same format appearing on the website and on the directories Google cross-references.

The address was updated as a single change, with the business name left exactly as it was. We placed the map pin on the actual clinic entrance in Shival Nagar rather than on the main road, and prepared video verification evidence in advance in case Google asked for it.
Step 5 — Rebuild local signals around Mumbai
After the relocation went through, the work shifted to making the profile competitive in a new market. Ghatkopar East is a dense dental market, and a clinic arriving from another city starts with no local prominence. Category accuracy, fresh photos of the new premises, regular posts and steady review activity all had to be rebuilt around the Mumbai location.

DentoFix Dental Clinic is live on Google Maps at its Ghatkopar East address, with the reviews, photos and profile history built up in Pune carried over intact.
That last point is worth emphasising. The common shortcut when a profile is suspended is to give up and create a fresh listing. Doing that would have meant starting from zero reviews in one of Mumbai’s more competitive dental markets — throwing away years of patient feedback that a new clinic in the area cannot replicate quickly.
What Other Clinics Should Take From This
- Never change the business name and address in the same edit. If both genuinely need to change, separate them and allow the profile to settle in between.
- Do not appeal with the new address in place. Revert to the state Google last verified, get reinstated, and only then move.
- Prepare the new location on the web first. Signage, website, directories — all consistent — before you touch the profile.
- Stop appealing after the first rejection. Repeated appeals are what turn recoverable suspensions into permanent ones.
