GBP Duplicate Listing Cleanup & Merge in Mumbai

Two listings for one business is worse than one. Your reviews split across both. Google cannot decide which to rank, so it often ranks neither well. Customers land on the version with the old phone number. And duplicates are one of the most common triggers for a suspension.

Rank on Maps finds, merges and removes duplicate Google Business Profiles for businesses across Mumbai.

Where duplicates come from

What duplicates cost you

Reviews are the clearest loss. Fifteen reviews on one listing and eight on another is not the same as twenty-three on one — and review count feeds directly into local ranking. Beyond that, your citation signals become inconsistent, edits made on one profile get overwritten by data from the other, and Google may show whichever version it considers more established, which is not always the one you manage.

Merge or remove?

The right action depends on the listing.

Merging is used when both listings represent the same business at the same address. Done correctly, reviews from both are combined onto the surviving profile. Done badly, reviews are lost permanently — which is why the sequence matters.

Removal applies to listings at addresses you no longer occupy, or profiles created in error that hold nothing worth keeping.

Neither applies where the listings are genuinely separate branches. Two locations are supposed to have two profiles, and merging them causes real damage.

How we handle it

  1. Full audit. We search for every version of your business on Maps, including unclaimed listings and name variations you may not know exist.
  2. Decide the surviving profile. Usually the one with the most reviews and the strongest history, not simply the one you currently manage.
  3. Claim what needs claiming. An unclaimed duplicate has to be claimed before anything can be done with it.
  4. Align the data first. Name, address and phone are matched across both before the merge request, which significantly improves the chance reviews carry across.
  5. Submit the merge. Filed through the correct channel with supporting evidence.
  6. Verify the outcome. We confirm the reviews actually transferred and the surviving listing holds the right data.
  7. Clean the citations. Old directory entries feeding the duplicate are corrected so it does not regenerate.

Common questions

Will I lose reviews when merging?
Reviews usually transfer when the two listings genuinely match and the merge is prepared properly. They can be lost when the data conflicts. This is the main reason merges should not be rushed.

I have two branches. Should I merge them?
No. Separate locations should have separate profiles. Merging them loses one location’s presence entirely.

How long does it take?
Straightforward merges resolve within one to three weeks. Cases involving claiming an unclaimed listing first, or conflicting data, take longer.

Can duplicates come back?
Yes, if the directories and aggregators that fed the original are not corrected. Cleanup without citation work tends to be temporary.
